Nike Logo

Nike brand was founded in 1968 by Phil Knight. Nike Company name was based on the Greek goddess of victory “Nike”.

But it was not until 1971 when he adopted this denomination. Nike company was called “Blue Ribbons Sports”  in the first 3 years of existence.

The main premise demanded by Phil Knight was that the logo transmits movement. Carolyn Davidson claims that she relied on the wing of the Greek goddess “Nike” to design the dynamic symbol we know today (more in the US) as the “Swoosh“.

Apparently, Knight was not too happy with the result presented by Davidson, but the urgent need to have a logo made him accept that design as definitive. He said: “I’m not in love with the Nike logo, but I’m going to get used to it.

The Nike company’s growth was exponential. Today. Nike company is the leading global company in sportswear and accessories. Nike logo is one of the most recognizable symbols in the world.
