How to Program a Comcast Xfinity X1 Remote

The Xfinity remote can also be paired with Flex streaming devices and Xfinity X1 streaming devices. This allows you to control your TV Box from anywhere, including an entertainment center, or another room, up to 50 feet away. Xfinity remotes are identified by their model numbers on the back panel and in the battery compartment.

Note: After your remote has been successfully paired to a TV Box it will not control another TV Box until it is paired with that TV Box. Xfinity remotes cannot be paired with more than one TV Box at a given time.

How to pair an Xfinity remote (with a setup button)

These instructions are applicable to the following remote models XR11 (Voice Remote), XR5 or XR2.

  1. You must ensure that the remote batteries have been installed and that your TV Box and TV Box are turned on.
  2. Adjust the TV input to match the input on the Xfinity TV Box.
  3. Once the LED at your top turns from red to green, press the Setup button on the remote.
  4. The remote can be controlled by pressing the xfinity button. The LED will start flashing green. You may need to press the xfinity key up to five times when pairing an XR2 remote with a DTA.
  5. Follow the steps and enter the 3-digit code on-screen for pairing.
  6. After entering the correct pairing code on the screen, the remote will be paired with your TV Box.

Note: Press the xfinity key again if you don’t see the pairing instructions displayed on the screen after pressing the button in step 4. If there are more than one TV Box within range, you may need to press the xfinity key multiple times.

To pair an Xfinity Voice Remote without a Setup Button

These instructions are applicable to the XR15 voice remote (X1 and Flex).

  1. You must ensure that the Voice Remote batteries have been installed and that your TV Box and TV Box are turned on.
  2. Adjust the TV input to match the input on the Xfinity TV Box.
  3. For five seconds, hold down the xfinity or info buttons. Wait for the Voice Remote light change from red-colored to green.
  4. Follow the steps and enter the 3-digit code on-screen for pairing.
  5. After entering the correct pairing code on the screen, the TV Box will pair your Voice Remote with the TV Box.
  6. After pairing your Voice Remote, follow the instructions on screen to set up power, volume, and input control for TV.

Note: The TV must be turned on first. You can press and hold the xfinity or Mute buttons for five seconds. Once the light at top changes from red-to-red, follow the instructions on screen to pair your Voice Remote with your TV.

These instructions are for the XR16 voice remote (Flex only, not number keys)

  1. Turn on your TV and streaming device.
  2. To activate the remote, remove the pull tab at the back.
  3. Point the remote at the TV and press Microphone.
  4. To finish setting up your TV, follow the instructions.
